"I can hear my mother call"

If you listen to Dr. Dre and don't know Funkadelic/Parliament, shame on you!  "Cosmic Slop" was not sampled by Dr. Dre, but I love that song.   I had to put "Cosmic Slop" on.  You feel me?

Pandora

Sometimes I forget my Ipod and I listen to Pandora.  When I do listen to Pandora I'm always introduced to new artists, which is no surprise since I only listen to records or my Ipod.  I'm not exposed to new music as often as I would like to be, since I don't listen to the radio and music videos are non-existent. . . well to basic cable.   I don't think I would hear anything good from those outlets anyways.   Man, I do wish I had the Fuse channel; they show "Juice" every night.  Man that would be great.

Thanks,

Feets, the man behind the octopus!  No, I am not fornicating the octopus.

Not A Big Spender!

This past Sunday, I went to the Beat Swap Meet.  A person was selling an original pressing of Le Planete Sauvage for $125.  I wanted to go the ATM so bad.  Instead, I bought 5 great records for a dollar each,an amazing Mud record for five dollars and a few others. I spent about 25 dollars ( I was broke, what can I say). I hope to play these new records for a mix soon.  If anyone has an original pressing of this record and wants to sell it to me for a couple of bucks, a pound or a euro.  Hit me up.

A Statement From The Killer Octopus

I'd like to thank my fellow Americans that helped slay the "Monster".  I checked his link and the address is no longer valid.   Your support means a lot to me (I just thought it would be fun to say slay the monster, don't take this seriously).

Stealing is wrong.  I don't care what you name your blog, just don't steal my stuff.  I am flattered, but you should really focus on creating your own content.  I wish you the best of luck with your blogs.  Be well.

Love The Break Even More!

I know this is a repost, but I had to. This video makes a whole lot of sense to me now. The previous video started in the middle. Now, I understand the break is a portion of Raquel Welch's "California Dreaming".

I think this video has a bboy feel to it, something Afrika Bambaataa would play. I'm sure you got that from the first video. In this video, I like that I have to wait for the break. The song gives me the feeling of what a block party would feel like in the 70's. The needle drops and all the bboys would wait for that break to come.

There's A Method To The Madness

A tactic to spread the word of the killer octopus. I'm trying everything. I'm using the old google image method. So, don't be surprised if you see a pamper ad or Justin Bieber (fu#k that K!d) on this blog.

Not good the second time around.

Debbie Gibson, done grown up! A few months ago I saw the movie "Mega Shark v. The Giant Octopus" and I could not stop laughing. I bought the dvd this past weekend for five dollars at Ralph's. I watched it again, and that sh!t was painful.
Hey everyone, movie night at my place. Guess what's playing?

The Killer Pig

I used to love drawing characters. I don't draw as much as I used to. So, I thought I'd brush up on my Illustrator skills and bring an old character back to life.

Bo Hansson RIP

I've been buying a lot of records lately. This past Saturday, I went to a record convention and found some gems. I made a mix with the recent records I've bought. It's mainly an instrumental mix. I hope you like it.  Right click the "mix" to save or click to stream.

No Question!

It is amazing what Dj Premier can do with a sample.

I thought there was something strange going on at the last record swap meet. I saw a lot of Bob James' "One" and "Two" albums selling for anything between five and ten dollars. Six years ago you'd pay twenty for either one. What gives?

R.I.P Big Dets

Last week my very good friend Big Dets was killed tragically - he was gunned down while sitting on the steps of his girlfriend's apartment. Today they laid his body to rest.

We met back in high school but our friendship really developed in 2001. I just moved back to Visalia from Redding, I ran into Dets and we talked about painting together. For about a year, me, Big Dets, our boys Smokey & Rob painted every Sunday. I will always remember and cherish the time I spent with Big Dets. He was such a driven and talented artist. Dets was willing to take on any medium to express his creative voice and I will always miss that. I'll see you again Big Dets, rest in peace.

The Big Score.

This one is short. I bought some soundtracks this past weekend. Thought I'd do an Instrumental type mix. There are some vocals but a whole lot of score type stuff. I used to buy soundtracks for the fast pace tracks for the bboys, but my boy Ned Learner got me to appreciate the other tracks that make up a soundtrack. You can listen to Ned at KXLU on Fridays from 9-11 p.m. Make sure to stream his shows, he plays some really good stuff.

April 25, 2010

I hope you enjoy the third installment of The Killer Octopus mixtape series. The first half is funk/soul and the second half is Rock (I don't know sub-genres). Bon appetit.

Once in a lifetime event!

"The Expendables"?

An all-star cast of ass kickers. The baddest muthafu**ers to hit the screen. "The Expendables" is the theatrical equivalent to Halley's comet. A man can live a lifetime and not have a film with such an all-star cast.

You're telling me you're not going to see this movie?

Side note: I need this poster!

Independent Record Store Day.

Last Saturday was "Record Store Day". I spent the day digging in Visalia, at Velouria (top pic), and a spot in Fresno (second pic) with my boy Rob. The Fresno spot was pretty sweet. The selection of records was on point, I'll be back fo sho. One thing I hate about all these shops is how they price common records. For example, the third pic is of a record that you'll see EVERYWHERE. This record should not go for more than $1. Last Saturday, I saw it going for $8. That record definitely isn't going anywhere.

April 14, 2010

I bought some records this Sunday at the "Beat Swap Meet". If you're not up on it, check it out. You'll find some great gems. I'll be playing some of the new records in the new set. My goal is to post a mix every two weeks. Stay Tuned.

There are Potheads talking about voting for the very first time to legalize marijuana in California. How many do think will actually vote? On a side note, the "seed" has been planted. The batch will surely get you high.

Vote for Your Favorite

Brett and I have had a couple of conversations on how funny Showtime's soft core movie titles are. Which one of the three titles above is your favorite?
